The V-Series is TrueNAS's new flagship platform. It consolidates hybrid and all-flash storage into a single tri-mode system: 24 front bays accept either SAS HDDs or Gen4 NVMe SSDs, and four rear Gen5 NVMe bays accelerate caching. The V-Series adapts to your workload — not the other way around.

The V-Series comprises the V140 (hybrid-cache line) and the V160 in two variants — Hybrid Flash and All-Flash. All use the same platform with dual AMD EPYC controllers (16–32 cores / 32–64 threads), HA failover and the full TrueNAS Enterprise suite — from inline compression and fast deduplication to RDMA support, snapshots and replication.

Architecture and expansion

The 4U chassis combines tri-mode front bays with dedicated caching slots, scaling through two shelf types.

24 tri-mode front bays

Front-loading 3.5"/2.5" hot-swap slots — either SAS HDD (8-26 TB, 7200 RPM) or Gen4 NVMe SSD (3.8-122.8 TB).

4 Gen5 NVMe cache

Dedicated rear Gen5 NVMe bays for high-velocity caching — up to 24 TB read cache in the Hybrid Flash configuration.

Dual-controller HA
